Today Motorola announced their MotoCast service which they tout as a personal cloud. Instead of storing your music, photos, and videos on a server somewhere, you connect your phone to a computer (or many) and stream content directly from there. No intermediary sync necessary.
You can debate whether this is as useful as cloud storage, but theres one aspect to this service that makes it highly desirable: streaming video in almost every popular format from your computer to the phone without the need to transcode.
Setting up MotoCast seems easy enough. The first time users plug the RAZR into their computer, one partition of the disk will register as a CD with a setup file on it.

Want a cool idea on how to recycle those old tires that are just lying around in the backyard or the vacant lot? If you have three months, lots of patience and talent, you might be able to do what Korean artist Yong Ho Ji has done. Pictured above is a lion sculpture that Ji created. It uses the rubber from old tires as its medium and it took him three months to complete.
He starts out with by welding an iron skeleton, around which boards are nailed and potting soil of all things is used to create the base of the animal. Yi then goes directly to nature to get inspiration, as he takes castings of dead animals to make sure the proportions are correct. W

Back in 2009 I reviewed one of the first public versions of DNS Jumper, a portable program for Windows that allowed you to change the system’s DNS with the click of the mouse button. The application back then was released during the “dns craze” where Google and other big players like Symantec entered the market to become providers. The program had its flaws, especially the inability to add your own DNS providers to the list and the lack of information about each server needed fixing to make the program more versatile and comfortable to use.

Printing company RR Donnelley said today it has acquired Journalism Online, a company aimed at helping news papers monetize their web content.
Financial terms of the deal were not released.
Three veteran media executives are behind Journalism Online including Steven Brill, founder of Court TV, Gordon Crovitz, a former publisher of The Wall Street Journal, and Leo Hindery, a former chief executive of ATT Broadband.
