Kodak PlaySport Video Camera, Burton Edition: $199.95

This past week, Kodak announced a co-branded PlaySport camcorder geared towards snowboarders. In addition to its durability depsite water, dust or drops, the Burton edition Zx5 comes packaged with several accessories. The case, HDMI cable and 4GB SDHC memory card are nice. But the knobby, gripping tripod and remote control included are what make it fun.

I just tried to download the voice over IP software Skype from the official website to discover that I had to log in, or create an account, to do so. That was an annoyance and I decided to go to Betanews to download the software instead. I had been a Skype user before but somehow ran into a problem that shut down Skype right after start every time I would run it. After cleaning up all leftovers on the system I decided to give the program another try, which worked this time.

But instead of just opening the Skype window a second window was opened on start. Skype Home opened as a popup on Skype start. I cannot really say what it is for, maybe for advertising new features or for making Skype more social.

Dominique Leca, the co-founder of the much-loved Sparrow mail client, tells Business Insider that his team is working on an iPhone version of Sparrow.

BI: Isn’t one of Apple’s rules for the mobile App Store that you can’t “duplicate functionality”? DL: Yes, but on the Mac, they can’t really apply it, so you’ve got a way out. You can license your software without being considered a rogue developer, like you might on Cydia [the jailbreak app store for iPhone]. Developers have been selling Mac apps long before the MAS was introduced, whereas for most people, the only want to get content on an iPhone is through the App Store.

Every company, worth its stock price, knows the importance of luring customers, but now they have to chase yet another coveted breed, that is of developers. Microsoft recently launched a campaign to attract developers for its WP7 platform and now it is doing the same for its upcoming Windows 8 operating system. And apparently, during its TechEd New Zealand conference, Microsoft showed off upcoming Windows 8 slates, powered by quad core processors.

According to the company, it is working with OEMs to manufacture next gen tablets and these tablets are more likely to be targeted towards corporate users. The company’s principal architect Patrick Havesi said, We are seeing people bringing in iPads with a Bluetooth keyboard, a mouse, a pen, and all this other stuff. A Read more…
